忍耐生老练。老练生盼望。（罗马书5:4）

and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope;  (Romans 5:4)

“Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (1Peter1:13)

珍珠原是在牡蛎里的一粒沙，包裹上一层一层它挣扎中分泌的粘液，经年累月硬了才变成珍珠。品格也是在痛苦的压力下，经年累月挣扎后才形成的。那时我们的灵魂因为有盼望能忍耐而得到滋养，盼望的不是今生而是来生。

The seed of a pearl is then coated with layers of oyster tears that harden over time.   Similarly, character is also formed under painful pressure over time.  At these times our souls are nourished to persevere by our hope, which is not in this life but in the one to come.

所以要约束你们的心﹐谨慎自守﹐专心盼望耶稣基督显现的时候所带来给你们的恩。（彼得前书1:13 ）
