Romans 5:12-21     Christ’s obedience reverses Adam’s disobedience

Sin –> death &  condemnation; Grace –> life & justification

 

C.  The Believer, Sin and its Curse

 

#11- The Believer and Sin : Rom 6

Rom 6-Slaves of sin vs slave of righteousness

Saved from sin’s penalty by blood, from power thru HS, from presence in heaven

Confession (I Jn 1:9, Ps 51), forgiveness (Rom 8:1, Acts2:38, 26:18), restitution (Lk 19:8)

 

#12- Curse fulfilled for Satan: 1 Jn, Heb 2, Col 2, Rev 12, 20, Isa 149, Eze 28

1 Jn 3:8  Son of God appeared for this purpose: destroy the works of the devil

Demons feared Jesus who had power to dislodge & command them

Jesus has bound the strongman (Satan) & now plunders his treasure

Heb 2:14-18  Thru death as man, Jesus renders the devil powerless, who had power of death

Col2:14-15  Disarmed & made a public spectacle of rulers & authorities by Christ’s triumph over them thru cross which canceled out debt of sin

Rev 12:7-17  Satan’s ID, fall, persecution ofIsrael

Rev 20:10, 14; 14:9-11 Satan’s punishment

 

D.  Reversing the Curse

 

Reversing the Curse in Marriage: 1Pt 3:1-7, Ti 2:3-5, Eph 5:21-33, and 1 Cor 7:1-16,

#13– 1 Pt 3:1-7, Titus 2:3-5   Women Reversing the Curse in Marriage (submission &  respect)

#14– Eph 5:21-33                     Men Reversing the Curse in Marriage (sacrificial love & leadership)

God values children (from womb, ministry to them=Lord) Deut 6:7

Teaching to obey authority: you, teachers, government, God

(Eph 6:1-4,Col3:20-21) – as born sinners, they are natural rebels

Discipline (Prov.,Heb 12, esp :11)

Bring children to Lord, 2 Tim 1:5

Mother’s job is to build children’s character – Titus 2:3-5
